AirTran Airways is launching several new routes and expanding service starting this week. This means more options for budget travelers to grab discount flights.
Once airborne, the airline will now begin to offer inflight Wi-Fi to its customers as service rolls out to all planes by this summer (2009).
The New AirTran Routes
Here’s a quick listing of the new offerings by AirTran. Some may be completely new city pairings, while others are new extra flights on pre-existing routes.
- Asheville, North Carolina to Orlando, Florida – One new non-stop, three times a week. Rates start as low as $34 each way for economy seating or $254 in business.
- Atlanta, Georgia to Atlantic City, New Jersey – Two new daily non-stop flights. Rates start as low as $69 each way for economy seating or $303 in business.
- Atlanta, Georgia to Portland, Maine – One new daily non-stop flight. Rates start as low as $154 each way for economy seating or $414 in business.
- Atlanta, Georgia to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – One new daily non-stop flight. Rates start as low as $114 each way for economy seating or $398 in business.
- Atlantic City, New Jersey to Orlando, Florida – One new non-stop, three times a week. Rates start as low as $64 each way for economy seating or $184 in business
- Knoxville, Tennessee to Orlando, Florida – One new non-stop, four times a week. Rates start as low as $44 each way for economy seating or $254 in business
- Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Washington, D.C. (Reagan) – Two new daily non-stop flights. Rates start as low as $69 each way for economy seating or $304 in business.
Log In with New Wi-Fi Service on AirTran Flights
Got work to do? Want to research a destination en route? Simply want to Twitter about the flight? Now it’s possible with the addition of Wi-Fi service to all AirTran flights starting this summer.
Service will be provided by Gogo, which says on their website they are fully compatible with all Wi-Fi-enabled laptops, as well as select smartphones and other handheld devices. A full listing of currently supported handhelds can be found at their website.
Gogo is offering several pricing options, ranging from $9.95 for all devices on flights 3 hours in length or shorter to a 30-day unlimited pass $49.95 (a great deal for those business road warriors out there). For those just using smartphones or PDAs (no laptops), they also offer a $7.95 connection pass, regardless of flight length.
